The Chief Executive Officers of three tech giants are asked to report in front of Congress; to discuss their responsibilities in defending the probity of November’s midterm elections. The three tech giants which are to be reported are Twitter, Google, and Facebook. Jack Dorsey Twitter chief executive and Sheryl Sandberg chief officer of Facebook will be a witness.

It is not yet committed by Larry Page, chief executive of Google’s progenitor company Alphabet, regarding his attendance. The social media giants will be asked about their feedback to operations. The external impact operations on their dashboards in an open hearing to be held on the 5th of September. Google has recommended sending Kent Walker, senior vice president of Global Affairs, as a substitute for Larry, the representative.

Once again the Senate Intelligence Committee has called the companies to attest. it will be the first time that higher authorities will be present for the hearing. It lies in the stream of Twitter and Facebook newly declared removal of some suspected accounts. Suspected accounts mean the accounts that they think can be connected to Iranian and Russian political interference.

The social media giants have been rapidly under the target of Russian efforts in previous years, on the account to impact the 2016 presidential election with disinformation. Sandberg and Dorsey may face harder questions in the hearing, where legislators have been targeting on social media’s responsibility in US political discourse for a long period of time. According to a spokesperson of Facebook they were expecting for the hearing next week.
